Board Member
Edith Lau

Edith Lau is a bilingual (Spanish) teacher in the Pasco School District since 2003. Currently, she teaches fourth grade one-way dual language at Marie Curie STEM Elementary. In the past, Edith has taught kindergarten and all grades at the middle school in math, science, and history.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Edith is her school’s chess club coach. She has coached chess clubs since 2013 because her students needed an adult to be their coach so they could participate in tournaments. Edith has learned the game of chess through her students over the years, yet she focuses her coaching more on the life skills aspects of the game like being humble, good sportsmanship, and service learning. With her talents in organization, Edith became Pasco School District’s chess program coordinator in 2015 to continue this program since the previous person relocated out of the area. She is also an advisory board member of a local non-profit, Washington Elementary Chess Champions (WECC).
